Position Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing networks and circuits in support of FiberNet’s customers. This includes provisioning circuits on the existing network equipment, as well as identifying and designing new facilities and equipment required to support new orders and network growth.

 Responsibilities

• Design and engineer SONET, SDH, TDM and PDH systems by specifically identifying network equipment required for installation.
• Create installation documents used to quickly and efficiently install new equipment and provision new circuits.
• Design and engineer relay rack layouts for Carrier Hotel co-location facilities
• Identify capital equipment required to complete network upgrades and new circuit installations.
• Provide technical support for Sales Directors in pre-sales initiatives including planning, design and equipment specifications and costs
• Work directly with customers and contractors through phone, email and site surveys to gather information required to accurately documenting the location of network equipment.
• Create Methods of Procedures (MOP’s) for the transition of existing network equipment on to new facilities.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.

Requirements

• Knowledge of relay rack layout engineering, DWDM/CWDM design, SONET/SDH protocol, TDM/PDH protocol
• Familiarity with DCS systems
• Knowledge of Ethernet protocol, transport design and equipment.
• Experience designing networks with the following equipment: Nortel OM3000, OM5000 & OME6500, Turin Traverse series, Adtran 2800 & Opti 6100 series
• Experience with Metasolve TBS or similar network inventory system.
• B.S.E.E or equivalent experience
• 5 to 7 years experience in circuit engineering, network design, central office engineering or outside plant engineering for an ILEC, CLEC or other telecom service provider
